Waterloo
There are places that are part of the landscapes of our lives, whether we want them to be or not. Waterloo station is one such place for me.
I've never lurked around Waterloo by choice, although I've plenty of time stood on the concourse, often deciding which train to get, weighing up the waiting time against the distance to walk at the other end (Malden Manor, six minute; Worcester Park, ten minutes; New Malden, twenty minutes).
Recently, though, an associate of mine suggested we meet at the station for a coffee. I can't say I found the choice of location particularly appealing, apart from the sheer convenience, and I don't object to walking in London, anyway.
However, the café he suggested was up on the new mezzanine floor and I loved it! So much so that I suggested we meet there again today. It's my new favourite place to drink coffee in London.
