SHIPS THAT PASS IN THE MURK
A wet Thursday afternoon in December.
Good news: the first aid that Richard the roofer performed first thing this morning before the rain started seems to have worked and no rain came through.
Bad news: we need a complete new roof (he took photos and made videos of the aged and crumbling state of it, inside and out) which we're hoping to get done sometime in March if weather permits. I went back through the surveyor's report which wasn't a full structural survey and had caveats because he could only inspect the roof from ground level, so no comeback there. Tip: find a surveyor who uses a drone to look at the roof. Thinking about it, it should be a tool of the trade, surely? Anyway, we'll have a brand new roof which should see us out.
Good news: I ended the day with a lovely Wild Girls' Christmas meal in our newest member's enormous and beautiful Edwardian pile. Her roof problems make ours look puny by comparison!
