The Great Hall, Leeds University
I went on a trip down memory lane today with three women I know from our first year at Leeds University - I'm not going to say how long ago that is! We went to the university campus and spent some time trying to remember the hall of residence we all lived in - until it occurred to us that it had been so altered that it was unrecognisable. Other buildings looked much more familiar and there was sometimes the strange feeling of being in two time zones at once - then and now. Altogether the campus looked very fine - in a good state of repair and quite a number of new buildings. And they've done up the union building no end - no smell of stale beer and cigarette smoke and no sticky floor, instead it looks more like a cross between an airport and a shopping centre. And we sat on the steps of the Parkinson Building and ate take away sandwiches in true student fashion!
