Turns out I worried about the wrong thing

This is the view from my train seat - whizzing along just north of Exeter. The farmland is flooded as far as the eye can see. The train will only be able to get to Totnes - there it will stop, as the line is blocked by floods just beyond. So Plymouth and Cornwall are cut off completely. Anyhow, luckily, my son had the day off work so he was able to get to Totnes to fetch me. Lovely sunny day, we went to an area of Plymouth called Mount Batten - full of boat yards , boatbuilders and a huge marina. It’s where L’s kayaking club is based. Lunch of fish finger sandwiches in a cafe which seems to exist mainly for boatyard staff, and a sunny walk around the coast path, with fabulous views back towards Plymouth proper - the Hoe and so on. I’d not been here before and I loved it. In the evening when R had finished work, we went to see ‘Wonka’ which was beautifully done, and so well acted. A treat
