You just carry on
Whatever you’re doing. I’m warm and comfortable here.
The storm is still here, but with less force now. I have to go to Tesco because (whisper it) I’ve run out of cat food. In the afternoon I cook various batches of food - veggie dahl, tomato pasta sauce, buttery mashed celeriac - while listening to the football. Sunday is the new Saturday.
In the morning I am gripped by events in Syria. Far too soon to understand what may happen - but it’s so moving to hear about opening the doors of Assad’s jails and torture centres, and people pouring out. And to hear already Syrian refugees are queuing up to go home.
A footnote on the nature of kleptocracy. All the repression, imprisonment, torture, bombing his own citizens, chemical weapons - and for what? Power, and a warehouse full of Ferraris and Rolls Royces. It would be interesting to see inside his soul.
