Just Like Old Times

I received a text message early on, with a match tomorrow the club wants to put the club flag at half mast. The halyard has once again been snapped/let go, for no apparent reason there is blue baling twine at random places on the pole, it looks a mess and doesn’t work.
So on a windy Friday morning the original Thursday Gang, minus one reunited. Dave, Pius, Martin and I met up and within no time it was as though there had been no gap. We convened our ‘Chinese Parliament’, discussed what needed doing and how we were going to do it.

Flagpole housing unbolted, pole lowered, all the damaged/broken parts removed, baling twine cut away and the working parts cleaned and lubricated. I headed off with Dave’s money to purchase stainless steel replacement parts with which to modify the design.
Back on site, parts fitted, flagpole securely erected back in place and tested with the club flag.
A happy Thursday Gang

It’s ready for remembering and honouring Sandy on Saturday.

Home for some of the stew made yesterday, followed by card writing and present wrapping. Later in the evening we sat in the lounge, fire burning and a hot chocolate as opposed to coffee.
