An unexpected sky

Most of the day is spent in our twilight zone, time shared between baking and entertaining a friend for lunch.

By the time we venture out for some fresh air and a walk, the light is fading fast, the day’s blue skies disappearing into a grey non-sunset as clouds gather in the west. It’s another case of arriving at West Shore more in hope than expectation of any photo opportunities.

There are a few gulls splashing in the surface water, just visible in the dimming grey, but there’s little else of interest and the light is gloomy. But of course, nature always holds the capacity to surprise, and gradually streaks of colour emerge out of the grey, unexpectedly transforming the dreary scene into a world of pastel tints reflected in the silky channel left by the retreating tide.
