Fast Car

I was going to post a picture of the book tree inside St Pancras station, but was more taken with this McLaren parked outside. I’m guessing it had been wrapped as there was a sticker in the window saying “Yiannimize, and there is a tv programme I’ve seen called “Yianni: Supercar Customiser” which is all about a garage that wraps and paints all sorts of exotic sports cars for their wealthy owners. I’m not sure if it was parked inside the London Congestion Charge area, but I suppose if you can afford the car and the customisation cost, a few quid for a Congestion Charge isn’t going to bother you!
After praising the train journey on the way down to London, it was back to the usual depressing delays today. Our train was sat there ready to depart Euston at 1.30, but had no driver as he was delayed coming in on another service. Eventually, we got away over 50 minutes late, only just before the scheduled 2.30 departure! This means that by the time we get to Oxenholme we’ll probably have missed the last bus back into Kendal so it’s going to have to be a taxi home. On the plus side, Mrs C was given two free cups of tea from the buffet car because - according to the member of staff - “good things happen to nice people”. She must have a kind face. Or perhaps she was the first customer who didn’t complain about the delay!
Home safe and sound now with the fire and telly on - we did manage to get a bus from the station into town and I walked home and got the car for Mrs C and the luggage, whilst she sorted something for tea from M&S. As we ultimately arrived at Oxenholme over an hour late, we should be entitled to a full refund on the tickets under the Delay Repay scheme. The claim will be going in tomorrow morning…
