The Arctic Cathedral, Tromso

As the sun will not emerge above the horizon until late January, the light gives a special atmosphere to these magical places.  The polar night makes photography a challenge.

Those of you who remember my land based trip to Tromso, where we saw and photographed amazing whales, may remember that I just posted pics in mono.

It wasn’t so cold today but we wore our “city spikes” (the latest fashionable name for crampons or Yaktrax).

You’ll probably remember that the cathedral is at the end of a dramatic bridge which featured in the final of “Race Across the World.”
