Walkies.

We met up with a friend and her two schnauzers (Murdo's mum and dad). For a change from muddy woodland walks the South Gyle was chosen. An estate of mile after mile of corporate office buildings. Back in the day tens of thousands must have worked here but now most of the buildings are empty. The grounds are well all maintained and strewn with artwork.

I found it eerie - very quiet, quite unsettling. Yet in the midst of this bleak environment we came across a rather fine café (Patina). Dog friendly too. A corner table in the window! Excellent, we got a grand view of the trams gliding silently by every few minutes. Lunch was ordered. Very acceptable. Part of the café is a rather splendid bakery.

I toyed with visiting the Gyle shopping centre on the way home but one glance at the heaving car park put that idea to bed.
