Pointed!
There is something particularly satisfying about pointing an external wall: you know that you've done the dirtiest work by then (raking out the old mortar) and it's very easy to do. I once pointed the whole of end-walls when we lived in Norfolk, protecting the chalk lumps that made up the walls and using a lime mortar. I suspect that this mortar is a cement mix, but then the bricks are harder than chalk, perhaps.
And the best bit about pointing is watching someone else do it :-)
