A bus trip …
We had a relaxed morning and a cup of coffee before catching the bus to Orewa to visit my aunt. She was very pleased to see us and we had a lovely chat before her stepson and his wife arrived. As soon as they arrived we all walked to the restaurant in my aunt’s retirement village for a snack and a coffee. The restaurant had a large group celebrating an 80th birthday, but there was room for the five of us to sit and enjoy our lunch. It was great to catch up with T&L, who are both very caring and protective of my aunt. We had an enjoyable time and they were kind enough to drop us back to the hotel afterwards.
We relaxed in the hotel for a while then caught a bus to Mission Bay to meet an America’s Cup volunteer friend for dinner at Portofino restaurant. We had an enjoyable evening catching up on each other’s news and eating a delicious meal. Eventually it was time to say goodbye and head back to the city. The lights were sparkling and it was good to see the Sky Tower lit up red for Christmas. I also took a photo of the golden reindeer with red bows in the hotel lobby.
