Apples and Oranges

By Anitsirk

When I was almost at work, I spotted a coworker and we had company the lats meters to work. I came in and one of the bosses said 'Oh, good, you're here!' She had a meeting and two of the other bosses were busy and the last one were out somewhere, so I had the cashier. I managed to get my project out from the office just before she disappeared. And then I started cleaning the casher benches. When the customers came back from their trip into Greenhouse 1, I saw that they were going to buy several birds nests. I caught the eye of our last bos/supervisor and he understood I wanted help. He's got such calm around him and since this was a large sale too it was reassuring to have him there helping me with the numbers. I told him that later too.
Then I got on with my chore, getting interrupted now and then, and a coworker and I tried to find space to figure out some words in a rime for Christmas gifts. One of the bosses, mine, wanted to give her two coworkers a fluffy red little bag, and my coworker were sewing them. And we were riming to those. But, my coworker and I thought my boss should have a bag too, and  then I aske, what about our forth boss... so we figured out something she could sew to him in the same fluffy red. A cup cozy for his coffee mug. And to be able to talk about this without them hearing, or my boss understanding that she was getting one too... or the rime that were to the other three and we wrote a rime to her too on the same paper and then we needed to rip the paper in two, so she wouldn't notice the second rime... and the chaos today... But, it was so much fun to see how happy they were, all of them, and how genuinely happy our male boss was with the cup cozy, and my boss was happy he got something too and also her little bag was a success. So, much fun!
But, before that, I had one last customer... they walked through the door with four minutes left. Afterwards we started the fun and then ate Christmas lunch together and talked and laughed.

And, something happened today... one of those strange coincidences... The other day, I thought I'd ask my boss about her coworker when I was there the first time. She got seriously ill in cancer, but came back some time to visit. Then the other day, I though I hadn't seen her for a long while and that I would ask my boss. And, yesterday I found a paper tag with a Christmas wish from them both (my boss and her former coworker). Today it came up and I aske how she was, and I was told she died almost three years ago. So, my boss and I talked about her for a bit. She told me she sometimes thinks she hears her, or catch a glimpse of her hair around here, knowing she's gone but still. I told her it's no wonder, because they worked together and this place is filled with fun memories. But, it was such a coincidence to first think about asking about her, then finding the tag and then getting the sad news.

This blip wasn't meant to be this long...
The photo is taken in the Greenhouse park today. It was cold but oh so beautiful. :)
