Orphan Tessa

Today's the day ........................ to put on a show

We've just got home after watching the final performance of Olivia - the Musical  by Malcolm Sircom - staged by Moniaive Primary School, and including both Tessa and Josie in the cast.  It was an ambitious thing for the school to attempt - and it was absolutely brilliant!

The show is set in Victorian times and traces the steps of Olivia, from downtrodden orphan to star of the stage. On her journey to the bright lights of London, she is befriended by Eliza Doolittle (as in My Fair Lady) and, after a series of adventures, becomes a singer in a new Gilbert and Sullivan show, thanks to the unlikely assistance of Fagin and The Artful Dodger.  Along the way, George Bernard Shaw, Ebenezer Scrooge and Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson also become involved!

It was a real feel-good show full of wit and humour, both in the script and the songs which were catchy, lyrical, and full of gusto.  The above is a rather fuzzy shot of Tessa - but I hope it will give you an idea of how much she was enjoying herself, playing the part of one of the orphans ....................
