No caimans were hurt . . .

. . . but this one might have been a bit mystified at the attention given to him by a couple of tourists. The staff at the jungle lodge are all from the local village so things like spotting a caiman in the dark is second nature them. As is catching one and bringing it back to the boat, apparently.

Earlier we had a trip up river to the local village. We found out how they produce manioc. We ate the most delicious mango straight from the tree. We picked and ate cashew apples which are fruit of the cashew nut. We ate another large, fleshy fruit that tasted of vanilla and apparently makes delicious ice cream but I can't remember the name of it.

We have the whole 'hotel' to ourselves for the duration of our stay so we reckon the staff to customer ratio must be around 10:1.
