Pretty in pink

This morning as we arrived for breakfast our attention was drawn to this little beauty on the back of one of the dining chairs. It's a Pink Toed Tarantula. Spiders don't normally bother me but seeing this in the wild did make me take a step back. Apparently it's not uncommon to find spiders or frogs in your room but this wasn't what I'd pictured. It is now! We didn't disturb her and she let us have breakfast (and lunch and dinner) in peace.

Our walking tour of the jungle was cut short today as the heavens opened. It was already very wet but the rain made it miserable. Wearing glasses in the rain and the humidity is frustrating. They are constantly steamed up and running with water making it impossible to see anything. Later we had a fishing trip outing by canoe. No fancy fishing rods for us. Our equipment was an old water bottle with the line screwed into the neck. The hook was very basic and the bait was a piece of meat. Himself and I tried hard but came home empty handed. I did manage to dredge up a few branches but our guide and the boatman both caught piranhas.
