Aslan

A second visit to Leeds Castle this week, this time to see the Narnia exhibition in the castle. We bought an annual ticket earlier this month and this event was included in the ticket price unlike the Light Show on Monday which was extra.

I’m almost, but not quite, ashamed to say I’ve not read the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe or any other books in the Narnia Chronicles. Susan has and was able to fill me in on the detail.

Nevertheless, it was an excellent exhibition, well worth the queue to get in and the wait to go through the Wardrobe. Everything was so well done with actors playing the parts of the Faun, the Wicked White Witch and Mrs Beaver.

Of course, right and truth win in the end as Aslan asserts his authority and springtime returns to Narnia just as the children had to return to the professor’s house. All the displays were first class. I’ve included a few as extras.

It was interesting afterwards to read up about CS Lewis, his life and work and specifically about the Chronicles. I may have to read the books now.

After lunch my elder son Matthew came over bringing his gifts while we gave him cards for the family. Presents seems to be in the form of money which makes life easier for us all.

He bought his dog Winnie so we all went for a walk via the Library and Mote Park. All very enjoyable.

There was a great sunset this afternoon as we embarked on our third and final walk to the supermarket to buy what we thought were the last supplies. Hmmm, no. I think we will need yet more milk.

On the railway tomorrow at Wittersham Road, the penultimate day of Santa Specials.
