Clearing Skies
This Christmas seems to be about grey skies and mild temperatures. And rain. So it was surprising as we returned home from Risley Moss this afternoon that the skies cleared a bit, and we were treated to a fantastic range of colours before and after the sun set. And the moon was visible in the eastern sky, with not far away the planet Jupiter.
I took a few sky pics with my phone, and a few camera pics of the moon, as well as (not very good ones) of Jupiter. Cropping the images of the gas giant two of the four Galilean moons are clearly evident (extra), I can see that for Galileo using his improved telescope it must have been an astonishing sight.
Of course it’s now raining - normal service is resumed.
