The old fire station, Hungerford.

From the 1891 Newbury Weekly News.

The Fire Station: Mr Platt has generously placed premises at the Tannery at the disposal of the brigade, and here a very cosy and well-arranged fire station has been provided. The engine is on the ground floor in readiness for a turn-out, and there are rooms on the first floor for the accommodation of the brigade and their equipments. The place is lighted by gas, and every plan has been adopted to further the efficiency of the brigade, and to effect promptness in responding to calls.

The fire station is now a shop, but Hungerford still has a retained fire service at a different site.
