Lochinvar
Today's the day ......................... to meander
We left Moniaive late morning - but because it was such a beautiful day, we meandered through the Galloway Hills and took the long way home.
This is Lochinvar, about three and a half miles northeast of the small settlement of St John's Town of Dalry. In former times, the loch had an island in the middle of it, on which stood Lochinvar Castle, seat of the Gordon family. In the 20th century, the loch was dammed to form a reservoir, raising the water level and submerging the island together with the ruins of the castle. It was looking beautifully blue today - and so still with not a breath of wind to ruffle the surface of the water.
And now we're back home again - full of good memories of yesterday's Christmas Day. However, there is one tangible reminder still with me, that I see every time I look at my hands. It's the result of that visit this morning to Tessa's Nail Salon (see extra) ......................!
