2023 Ornaments
Our souvenir when we travel is a Christmas ornament for the tree. This year, we visited a lighthouse while we were in Corolla in the Outer Banks of NC with my son and his family. I have a photo of each grandchild on our tree and now the great grands. Isla is our 2023 addition. She is such a happy one. But my favorite new ornament is from my sister (of course). My Aunt Pat, also my Godmother, sent me money 25 years ago to get something for our new home. I’d always wanted a Japanese dogwood so that is how I spent her gift. The tree finally died in 2023. My hubby was cutting it down and my sister asked him to save her a piece. This is what she did with it. Not sure how she got Aunt Pat’s photo on it. She always comes up with the most thoughtful and unique gifts. Hubby has waited on me today since I want to keep the germs in the bedroom. He was unable to sleep comfortably in bed after his hand surgery, so he has been on the recliner for almost a week. Hopefully that separation will save him from getting this virus. I did not get the latest vaccine but am not convinced it would have prevented me from having this illness. Some study suggests taking probiotics helps reduce its severity. We’ll test that theory as I have been taking probiotics for several years. Kim picked up the leftover turkey breast and made a pot of soup for her family and us. She also sent shepherd’s pie. For some reason, I have wanted mashed potatoes (my comfort food). She sent me two kinds last night, with and without gravy. Renee sent over immune health supplements and the other families have offered any service I need. Love my family! Lying around is not in my comfort zone; sure hope this illness is short-lived. Stay safe and healthy folks. I am surprised by the number of blippers or their family members who are also sick, many with COVID. Thanks for your visit and well wishes. “Anyone may have diamonds: an heirloom is an ornament of quite a different kind.” - Elizabeth Aston
