Show Me The Way To Go Home

My last Panto rehearsal before Tech and Dress next week. It was Act 2 and we were running it at speed because our Dame had to be away early. That meant it was a good opportunity to see how long that Act will likely be when we do it for real. Obviously we need to take into account the time required for scene changes which meant, to be realistic, we needed to run the audience participation to see if there was time to set the final scene behind it. In other words, how many times do we need to get the audience to sing the chosen song (all together, left side only, right side only, all together again, etc.) before the scene is set. It has been known for many repetitions to be required before a thumbs up is given, but it looks like we’ll get away with just a couple of rounds this time. Of course, an audience of paying punters will probably join in a lot more enthusiastically than a few jaded fellow cast members.
The weather has been absolutely dreadful today, though we did manage to get to the gym for a PT session this morning. Having eaten our own body weight in chocolates and cake over the last couple of days, we were subjected to a series of strenuous cardio and weights exercises by our sadistic trainer!
With only one day off now before gigs and pantomimes rule my life until the middle of January, I’m hoping a good rest tomorrow will enable me to throw off a niggling cold that has developed since Christmas Eve. I really need to be fighting fit to get through the next couple of weeks.
