a stormy winter exploration...

The Wijnaldum Archaeological Support Center organized a Winter Terpenkuier! It was a fascinating 6 km walk along the Ried, where archaeological excavations took place in the 1990s, inspired by the famous golden fibula from the 7th century.


In this photo the ruins of the old tram/railway bridge, which Queen Wilhelmina and her husband Prince Hendrik also crossed during a visit to the north in the early 1900s.
