As I Mean to Go On
A continuing resolution, really, to accept invitations for socialising! What we really felt like doing was chilling at home (and we have a fridge full of yummy leftovers to use up), or going on a good walk (it was a stunning day), but Ermelinda had invited us to her Mum's house for lunch, so, after the NY service at church, we walked down to her house, where we were warmly welcomed and royally fed and watered.
They say you are really accepted in a Portuguese home when they host you in their kitchen, so quite a privilege. As ever, hordes of food - I had octopus rice and cheesy potatoes, and passed on the pork with chestnuts and salted cod.
Gratefuls:
- having extras again! a very hazy shot of the fireworks on the castle at the turning of the year; the air was so hazy from the ones going off in the square we were in, that an awful photo, but they were spectacular
- being accepted in Ermelinda's family
- a FT from Sutton of the grandkids in the bath together
