An Equine Footwear Imbibement

Otherwise known as a pint at The Horseshoes. Not my greatest image, although I do love the horseshoe horse bedecked with twinkly lights, but I don't really care as at last both me and my brother have finally tested negative for Covid. So this was our first chance to head out for an imbibement since before Christmas.
When we arrived we were the only people there (we were literally the first people through the door!) apart from one member of staff. It felt like such a luxury to have a whole pub to ourselves. Boy those pints tasted good! :-))
Today was also bittersweet as we he heard that The Hengist, our village's restaurant, is to close permanently. Their Facebook entry confirms that it is with a heavy heart that they are sharing the news that it will be closing with immediate effect. They have fought hard to keep it open since the original Covid lockdown but due to myriad factors including the rise in food prices and utilities, the health of the owner and new restrictions to the once-free village car park, which will make it even harder to attract people to the village, they were left with no choice.
They give thanks to all of their team, past and present, who have made The Hengist what it is and have graciously thanked everyone who has dined with them over the years and allowed them to do what they did for so long.
We were due to have a meal there on Christmas Eve but had to cancel our booking when I tested positive for Covid so we didn't even get the chance to say goodbye. We're really going to miss it. We've always had such a lovely time on our visits over the years. Such sad news. :-((
