Overflowing

I had the idea to go down to the embankment in Bedford to check the height of the river and JJ agreed to go with me.  We parked on the far side of the river and then found the footpath over one of the tributaries was flooded, which ended that idea.

We then drove along the embankment but couldn't find anywhere to park so came home, stopping off close to the mill and then walked across the bridge, which is where I took this picture.

The river should be confined to the left of the image but has spilled out across the whole of the adjacent field, and the weir has all but disappeared.  I expect all four of the other river crossings north of here are closed due to flooding.  That tree definitely won't go under any of the arches.
