Chanel

Went up to London, had hair done in the morning and then a script meeting on a new project in the afternoon (the writer lives in LA and is over for Xmas so we wanted to meet up in person).

Then over to the V&A to see the Chanel exhibition (at last!) I took a lot of pictures but this huge room of Chanel suits from the 50s and 60s made a great show.  In truth it was her earlier work that was more of a discovery and more striking, the way she reinvigorated the way women dressed, from so very early in her career.  The way she, as happens now, she took inspiration from sportswear and mens clothing to give women freedom of movement and simplicity of silhouette.   So many aspects of what she did has been copied down the years by other designers.

We then travelled home together and Vikram had spaghetti puttanesca waiting for us.   Ended the evening in front of the fire going through some old boxes of (cheap!) earrings doing kill or keep.  I am determinedly getting rid of STUFF…

I think Coco would approve…
