January garden

Most of the garden looks soggy with dying back plants being left for the birds, although gardening manuals that suggest that tend to picture them sparkling with frost rather than mushy and grey.  But there are treats and this mahonia is definitely one of them, alongside a sweet scented but invisibly flowering Sarcocca.  We can also see snowdrops leaves emerging, a flower or two on the leucojum (snowflake lily) and one celandine in a sheltered spot.

Today was an office day with a run into town at lunchtime, my back was still a bit sore despite walking well first thing.  I am getting a bit fed up of being marooned in the home office and hope the trains run ok next week.
