Reflections of historic wharf …..
….. ….. ….. in Lake Wakatipu, at Glenorchy. Before the road from Queenstown to Glenorchy was constructed the ssEarnslaw used to take supplies to the farm stations dotted around the lake, finally arriving at this wharf.
My oldest son, his partner & I drove from Arrowtown to Glenorchy this afternoon, stopping at Bennetts Bluff for the stunning views of the lake, the surrounding mountains plus Mt Earnslaw. M&B had planned a flight over to Milford Sound, but it was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions, so we visited Glenorchy instead.
We browsed the fascinating general store Mrs Woolleys, and had a coffee outside in the charming garden. There’s another Lilliput Library there too.
