Green ring necked parakeet
Today was very cold, and windy. Despite being so cold we had no frost and we have not had a decent frost this year, let alone snow. I was very pleased that Xena was being walked by P today, although when he arrived she did not want to go out and after greeting him she ran back to her bed! She definitely needed a coat today.
I went out to get a few groceries and to collect a parcel, but other than that I have been busy at home. The Surrey Photographic Association (SPA) holds a biennial exhibition, but because of the pandemic the last one did not happen, so for this year's exhibition we can submit entries from the past four years. I spent some time going through my images and choosing entries for the various categories (Colour print, Nature print, Mono print, Open PDI, Nature PDI) I need to get the images into the correct format to upload and then take my prints to our camera club meeting next week where a co-ordinator is collecting all the prints to submit. The SPA will get thousands of entries from all the clubs so the chances of having an image selected for the exhibition is not high, but it's worth a try.
Today we got an unexpected gift, a hamper from a London deli containing some wonderful things - it was from Adam's university friends who went skiing with him before Christmas to say thank you for the use of our home there. Such lovely lads!
The Green ring necked parrakeet is the UK's only naturalised parrot. They are everywhere nowadays and are very social birds, often found in groups and are very noisy which is why some people don't like them. This was taken through the window as this one perched on the feeder - there were about five more in the nearby trees.
