Problems with temporary road signs

Whenever they do any roadwork around here they always put the signs on the pavement. I complained to the local council last week. Today they told me this was not an issue as the path was wider than one metre. The pavement is less than a metre wide so I think the council needs to instigate an eyesight test for the people they send out to look at these things.
