The cold spell continues.
Today we have had beautiful blue skies, but it’s been COLD! I’ve had two events today. I attended the Sedbergh WI Bookclub. We had been reading Marple: Twelve New Stories. This was a collection of 12 new stories written by a variety of authors. The stand out story for me was one by Val McDermid. It was clever and witty. Some of the others… well they weren’t very good. I think it’s quite difficult to set up the story, have a murder and solve it in a short story. The writers also had to stay within some strict parameters. We did have a good discussion though, and cake and Prosecco.
In the evening I went to a meeting of the local Parish Council. I have two issues. Road safety - our Main Street is very narrow and one way only. Access for delivery to shops is poor so they park on the pavement causing pedestrians to walk in the road. Car drivers mount the pavement on the opposite side to get past, which is dangerous for pedestrians- vehicles where they are not supposed to be, AND it breaks up the pavement causing trip hazards.
I also have a concern about reduction in our bus service. Apparently the PC have complained to the ombudsman and are awaiting a decision.
My blip shot was on my walk home. One of the few lamp posts lit up this bush, sadly my shot didn’t capture the frost on the branches, but it’s still a nice shot!
