Seamus the scarecrow

We noticed an eagle sitting on the byre roof the other morning eyeing up some free Nandos. We told Rowan that this means there’s an increased risk to the hens and what might happen. Then Rowan had one of her great ideas (which she has since confirmed is her best idea so far this week) - make a scarecrow!

So we made a cross, added an old boiler suit and then stuffed it with hay. We didn’t have anything for a head so we used an old football. The kids don’t know of ‘Wilson’ but we went with that as a temporary face.

Seamus is now guardian of the hens. And gives us a fright every time we walk past the chickens!

And it has been very cold today, so the sheep got some extra snacks.
