Old Chestnut
This old Chestnut tree bole, on the east side of the Top Lake at Sheffield Park Garden, now colonised by a number of young saplings of various tree species, reminds me of Edward Lear's limerick about the Old Man with a Beard:
There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, "It is just as I feared!—
Two Owls and a Hen, four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard.
