Red Kite

Today's the day ......................  to hear the cry

I heard him, long before I managed to pin-point him - but once I did, there was no mistaking those chestnut red feathers glinting in the sun.

He wasn't much bothered who knew he was there either - but then he's pretty high up in the pecking order.  He was quite far away but he stayed still long enough for me to get this shot of him.  Then he spread his wings and glided effortlessly away.

He soared in a big loop in the sky above me - checking me out probably.  Then he set a new course for the far hills and he was gone .....................
