A very old camera…over 100 years old!

Following on from my last two blips I looked for my mother’s old camera and found this one. I’ve not looked at it for years and assumed it was the one she used when I was a child. I couldn’t even remember how to open it but managed to sort it out with the help of a YouTube video! It seems all in working order. What I didn’t realise was how old it was. See xtra for more detail of settings etc. This is a Kodak No 2A Folding Autographic Brownie camera. They were made from 1915 to 1926  and apparently over 500,000 were made. I think this one dates from about 1920.  It was called an autographic because there is a little slit where you can write on the film before taking a photo…the text will then appear on the border of the photo when printed. I think this camera would probably still work but not sure I have the inclination to try it! All rather different from todays automated digital systems.
I’m sure my mother must have had a more recent camera too and possibly this was her parents.
Not worth much as lots are for sale on eBay.

Chilly again but I did go for a bike ride and see that the Teddington Lock footbridge has had all the structural work done and now needs painting. The river has gone down at least a foot but I only saw one eight and two canoeists as it is still flowing very fast.
