The Last Great Wilderness
Out to that fish shop at Newhaven for some dressed crab which we had with chips and salad later on. Oh, that’s a treat. Then over to the boat to put one of the batteries back before setting about the slope. I’ve never seen so many 1/4 bottles of whisky in my life. Perhaps the original “nanny park” as it was called when it ran the full length of the ground behind the cottages was an area where youffs sat and drank of an afternoon, or evening. People did use to do that, I recall. Well, I know I did. Especially on a Sunday in the summertime as there were no pubs open. Though that was in the meadows. And we took our empties away. 'Tis Granton, I suppose.
