Breakfast Beauties

Here's the second back-blip from our trip south to watch our grandchildren compete in a swim meet (yesterday's blip) -- yummy "sticky biscuits" made by Z, age 11, for our breakfast on Friday morning. She used a recipe I sent her when she was 4 or 5, and needed help from her mother to make the sticky biscuits. Now she makes them all by herself!

Refrigerated ready-to-bake biscuits (the American kind) are the base of this delicious treat. Z capably wielded a large, sharp knife to cut each biscuit into pieces, then rolled the pieces in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. She placed the coated biscuit pieces into the cups (indentations) of two large muffin pans; each cup held a tablespoon of a mixture of butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and chopped pecans, placed there earlier by Z. After the sticky biscuits are baked, they rest in the pans for a few minutes, and then the pans are inverted, putting the sticky bits on top.

In about 20 minutes, the sticky biscuits had baked and rested, and were ready to eat, as were the eggs and bacon, and fresh fruit. Three generations sat down to a leisurely, memorable breakfast!
