Egrets Near And Far

After we’d dropped Sophie at school we went for a walk at Shapwick Nature Reserve. We arrived just after 9 and it was freezing cold, with some of the lakes and rivers still frozen near the banks.

For an hour or so we only saw two other people but there were lots of egrets and herons on breakfast fishing expeditions.

For the main blip I was lucky to capture an egret landing in the distance at a convenient focal point of a scene I’ve blipped before. In the extra another one was happy to pose while I got close up.

We saw a couple of swans flying overhead ands two marsh harriers gliding over the reed beds but all too far away to get a good shot of.

After 12000 steps we were ready for a full English breakfast back at The Avalon Marshes Centre cafe.

This afternoon we were back to school to collect Sophie for her extra dance rehearsal.
