The state of our roads...
The road that leads past our house narrows after a couple of hundred metres into a series of bends. It is at this point that the road narrows and is a regular scene of accidents as cars approach far too quickly. It's a 40mph limit (should be 30mph) but drivers frequently ignore it and there are no speed cameras to slow them down. The situation is not helped by the state of the road where the edges of each side have disintegrated. There have been temporary traffic lights up for a week or so. We presumed this was for roadworks but none have taken place as yet. It's potentially lethal at the moment so at least the traffic is being protected by having to stop at the lights. There is debris alongside the road from cars that have come to grief, as shown in the extra photo. Hopefully it will be cleared away when the roadworks eventually get under way but in the meantime it may just help to warn drivers of the perils of going too quickly at this point.
