Maranta

I love the way new maranta leaves unfurl.

A few weeks ago I was sure we'd lost this plant. It dies back to a certain extent every winter but this time it went completely. It's an old houseplant dating back to the last millennium. I bought it at Holker Hall Garden Festival where we were exhibiting with Made IN Cumbria. The Late Mate needed took advice from me that a plant would make a good feature on his coffee table on his stall.

Eventually I bought him a bowl of silk roses and kept the maranta!
