St. Petersburg murals
Saturday
It was initially overcast, and very cool in Florida today, so we headed into St. Petersburg for the day. We had been thinking of visiting the Fine Arts Museum, which is near the waterfront, but we hadn’t counted on there being a Boat show nearby, so parking was hard to come by. Another thing I had been wanting to check out is some of the many murals now gracing many downtown walls, so we drove away from the waterfront and found some parking near Central Avenue, near which a number of the murals are located. So we had a walk up and down Central Avenue and adjacent streets, then continued on to another museum I had read about, Imagine: museum of contemporary glass art. A special exhibit they had showing was "Floating World” by Karen Lamont, featuring kimonos made of glass. Some of the pieces in the museum were quite mind-boggling regarding how they were created. There were some items that didn’t appeal to me, but most were really beautiful, and/or striking.
Afterwards, we returned to AM, stopping at the supermarket on the way. Philip was joining us that evening, and staying over until tomorrow evening. We hadn’t seen him for quite a while so we were looking forward to seeing him again.
