A day in the life

Queens view

During my walk today, short because of constant showers, I passed the Dutch mill "The Queen" on my way to the grocery. There aren't many Dutch mills on Öland, most of them are "Stub mills" which means they are built on a tree-stub, thus the whole mill is turned into the wind when in use, while the Dutch mills are stationary, with a turning top. This mill was in use until 1947 and it was a pay-mill where you got proper fine ground flour. The sign claims the payment was usually services in stead of cash.
