Basildon Park House

Today we went to visit this NT house, Basildon Park which is quite near Reading. Our first visit there. Today we did not do a full tour of the house but will at a later date. We had lunch in the cafe which was really interesting as the ceilings and walls are painted with lovely scenes from Angkor Watt which was a bit of a surprise! Apparently the son of the last owner , before it was bequeathed to the NT , got someone to paint it.

Before that we made a quick visit to IKEA Reading mainly to look a at curtains/ curtain material ….the shop was surprisingly busy  but disappointingly the whole curtain section was closed to be reorganised! So another visit will be needed.
