Hiding in plain sight
Wow - thanks so much for the appreciation that's been/being shown for yesterday's shot of the waxwing with berry. I suspect that it will be quite a while before I manage to take another shot that has quite the popularity of that one.
Still, for today here's a shot of a Skylark, hiding in plain sight. Its not got the beautiful smooth plumage and marvellous colouration of yesterday's bird, but it is still beautiful in its own way.
You'd think that it would easy to spot the bird, but they actually blend into the grass tussocks really well, and generally if they keep still you won't find them unless you look very carefully. Of course, once they take to the air and start singing, that's another thing altogether; that stream of warbles and trills is unmistakable and always a delight.
