a lifetime burning

Harrier

The Marsh Harriers are busy on the Somerset Levels, which was just as well, because there was no sign of Bearded Tits at Westhay Moor, where I encountered them last week.  It was a bit windy, and they don't tend to show well in windy conditions, but I didn't hear them once.

It may be January, but there's definitely Spring-like behaviour going on for the Marsh Harriers, as you can see from the "twigging" that's been undertaken in the first extra. That first extra isn't a great shot as I've had to crop in quite heavily the bird being some distance away, but it is a good record of the behaviour.

The second extra shows the Coot's ability to run away on water, when being chased by a more aggressive dominant Coot.  They're not my favourite bird, but this shot nicely shows off their weird feet.
