Detour + History Lesson

To Glasgow today to purchase summer glad rags.
Because of the British Cycling National Road Race Championships taking place in the city, there were lots of road closures, so we ended up going all round the houses.
We were sitting on James Watt Street near the Broomielaw on the River Clyde for ages and when I looked up, I saw this old tobacco warehouse, a very solid reminder of Glasgow's industrial heritage.
There are two inscriptions saying it was built in 1854 and reconstructed in 1911.
When I looked it up tonight, I discovered it it was designed for handling tobacco and was once a bonded warehouse containing facilities for removing tobacco leaves from the hogsheads in which they were imported.
It's now a storage facility in the midst of some very modern offices and apartments.
