Why have I not know about this place before?
Definitely an upgrade from trying to work in a badly lit hotel room.

John Rylands Library, Manchester. open Wednesday to Saturday, free entry, small exhibition and plenty of spare desks if you want to study.
I assume you can ask to read their books too but I brought my own.
