Palau de La Musica, Barcelona

Builder of dreams it says and not wrong. This was the most amazing music venue I’ve ever seen and photos do t do it justice. Can’t capture the sparkle of the glass as the sun shines in. It glitters like diamonds.

We were there for 9am opening having purchased our tickets in line. A ten minute walk to the Gothic area from our hotel.

We were lucky to hear some music being played and the acoustics were great. I will never forget the beauty of this building, the inside and outside. We stopped off in their cafe for a coffee before heading to Billy Brunch for a late breakfast . I had a three egg omelette with chopped peppers and bacon on the side and S had shakshouka.

We had a wander up the avenue of the Arc de Triomph, along to the big park with the huge statue type thing like in the Retiro park in Madrid. Watched a couple practicing flamenco in one of the bandstands and wander into the glasshouses then made our way to the metro to get to Tibadabo, the highest point in Barcelona.

It was a train to the funicular then a little bus took you to the top. It was boiling! It was equivalent of summer in Scotland. Yes I’m mentioning it again as we have been so lucky with the weather!

Same transport back down. A walk back to the hotel via the shop selling the most amazing gelato I’ve tasted. It did have a top rating but sometimes that’s wrong. No, seriously smooth and tasty pistachio. We must go back before go home on Sunday.

Also couldn’t resist a pastry shop to grab a couple of croissants to have with our cuppa in the room.

We were once again exhausted! Such lightweights (well me). It got to 8 and I just wanted to lie on the bed with my cuppa and watch Criminal Record.

Sleeping by 10pm!
