Tulips
Last night we thoroughly enjoyed our Burns Night dinner. Our host always prepares very attractive looking layered stacks of neaps, tatties and haggis so it is beautifully presented, with a whiskey cream sauce. The food was delicious and the company was good - we ran out of time to discuss the book as we were so busy discussing the junior doctors' strike which none of us have any sympathy for anymore. One of our members is a senior nurse at a hospital and she was getting very angry about the junior doctors striking, and the impact it has on her department. They cost the taxpayer a fortune for the cost of their education, there is no commitment to stay on in the UK once qualified as a doctor to 'pay back' the cost of their education, they don't even work long hours and have so much time off, and while they don't earn a fortune as a junior doctor they have the potential to do so as they rise up the ranks. And while they are striking people have appointments cancelled that they have been waiting forever for and some are even at risk of dying. It's the generation of people wanting instant gratification.
Today was a beautiful day, sunny and bright with blue skies all day - I know it is way too early but it almost felt like a spring day. Usually by 2.30pm the light is losing quality but with the lengthening days it was still wonderfully bright at 3pm.
I filled all the bird feeders today in preparation for the Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend, I will try to find an hour to do it tomorrow.
These lovely tulips were on my kitchen windowsill and just needed to be photographed.
